Ashna Malik

Ashna Malik is a multidisciplinary artist who graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2020 with a BFA. Her academic pursuits combined a minor in dance with a major in visual arts. This background is evident in her practice, where she introduces elements of movement onto flat surfaces. She prompts the audience to view her work from various perspectives, leading to the realization of a distorted image that fundamentally questions perception and understanding.

Through paintings, interactive projections, and laser cut wall sculptures, Ashna’s body of work features compositions built from intricate, layered patterns. Ashna uses these patterns and illusions to symbolize the complicated, often tangled structures and webs of thoughts, emotions, and experiences that characterize daily life. The compositions stem from a desire to challenge the viewer's perception, encouraging active engagement with the visual experience. Through the Distort series, she aims to compel viewers to broaden their perspectives, inviting them to question not only what they see but also how they interpret and experience the world around them.

Ashna is currently based in New Delhi and her works have been featured in a variety of settings and are held in private collections across the United States, France, Dubai, and India. Her notable exhibitions include participation in art fairs such as India Art Fair (2024), Atlanta Art Fair (2025), and Art Mumbai (2025), as well as the India Art Fair’s Young Collectors Programme. She has had two solo shows at Method, Mumbai: Lines of Inquiry (2023) and Tangled (2025). Ashna has also showcased her work in various galleries across India, and recently made her debut in Dubai. She has collaborated with prominent brands and institutions, including Johnny Walker (at Lollapalooza), Royal Enfield, La Marzocco, Budweiser, SCAD, and the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art.
