Vernika Singh

Biography

Vernika Singh is a multidisciplinary artist based in New Delhi. Self-taught, she works across sculpture, installation and painting, with a practice shaped by an enduring interest in movement, balance and the expressive possibilities of form.

A central strand of Vernika’s diverse practice includes her balloon series, in which an everyday, seemingly weightless object becomes a sculptural presence. Drawn to the way balloons float, drift and respond to air and gravity, she approaches them as forms animated by an unseen force, at once playful and precarious, buoyant and vulnerable. Through this subject, she explores how movement can be suggested even in stillness, and how a simple form can hold a sense of energy, suspension and presence. Saturated hues and reflective surfaces make the forms vivid and immediate, while their taut, inflated skins hold a tension between fullness and fragility. Rather than depicting movement, she creates forms poised to move, leaving the viewer to complete the gesture through perception.

Vernika’s work has been presented in solo exhibitions including In Motion and Stillness at Anamkara Art (2025), Synchronicity at Art Registry (2025), and Transference of the Personal at Terrain Art (2022). Her work has also featured in group exhibitions across India, including at Chawla Art Gallery, Genesis Art Gallery, Art District XIII and India Design ID. Her works are held in more than 250 private and corporate collections worldwide, including NMACC, Ernst & Young, Haleon and Husch Blackwell, to name a few.
