The Broken Vase series by Fintan Magee was created during the pandemic, when he decided to paint the same pipe plant every single day for months. It became an exercise of self preservation in the face of dire circumstances and an unprecedented crisis that no one was prepared for.
Trained in painting, Magee has come to be known for painting figures behind glazed glass, often portraying a sense of melancholy. He describes his recent works as allegorical, triggered by the current socio-political climate.
