Guesswho

Guesswho is an anonymous street artist active since 2012. Guesswho uses street art as a subversive medium of expression to practice and participate in the creation of an ever-changing culture of a city's visual landscape and experiments through wry commentary on socio-political issues. The artist often uses images from pop culture and reimagines them in a familiar context to reflect on the multi layers of a subject. Though most of the works can be spotted in Fort Kochi, Kerala, Guesswho’s monochromatic paste-ups and stencils have been sighted around India too. The artist’s practice is a whimsical juxtaposition of figures from western popular culture and regional characteristics that allow the audience to pause and visually trace how and why they recognise these images. Guesswho has been featured in many stories on street art in India by Indian and International media outlets such as BBC.
