Made during his residency at Chandraangan, Colours of Udaipur draws its palette from the peacocks that moved through the residency grounds as Bikash would collect their fallen feathers and keep them close, letting their colour settle into his eye before it reached the paper. That same attention turned outward to the plateaus and hills of Rajasthan, where colour reveals itself not as a single tone but as variety within the land itself.

The work also carries what he witnessed the colours found in textures during visits to marble mining sites, where the cut face of a hill laid open forms that were held inside the rock, unseen until the cutting revealed them.

Colours of Udaipur, then, is less a single palette than a gathering of them — feather, hill, procession, and stone, each contributing its own register of colour to the work.
