Next, down the same road, I follow a couple of students into  Gallery XXL, which moved here from Mumbai last year, and where Jurena Munoz Lagunas or ‘Jumu Monster’ is showing ‘In Memory of a Totem’. A Berlin-based artist with Peruvian-Chilean roots, Jumu is known for electric large-scale murals which draw symbology, colour and geometry from her Andean heritage to explore indigenous memory as a form of resistance. Co-founder Arjun Bahl tells me how XXL strives to work with urban contemporary artists and post-graffiti street artists who usually create public works of great scale, to adapt them to the gallery. This brings to the gallery styles and mediums which are less common, enabling collectors to take the feel of brilliant street art into their parlours.
