Pen on paper. Part of a body of six to seven works, each taking close to a month to complete, made from the forgotten days of his time in Bangalore. Here the landscape is not observed but recalled — a place returned to only through memory, redrawn from what has stayed rather than what was seen. The circle recurs as a marker of where he came from: the village, carried forward into a line that no longer moves as freely as it once did. Broken lines gather and knot, beginning to resemble letters, almost alphabets — an unfinished attempt at a language he was still learning to speak in the city.
